Would you rather be lean or be loved?

Here is a short “commitment” quiz: (Cosmo style, but not about sex or fluffy relationship stuff) We are talking serious commitment…to your diet of course and most importantly to yourself!

1) What is happening in this photo?

a. If you immediately recognize this high protein snack in progress, give yourself 10 points.

b. If you know off the top of your head that the contents of this cup contain 18g of protein and only 80 calories, and the accompaniment another 6g of protein, give yourself  20 points.

c. If you have no idea what this is, but you are willing to eat it everyday anyway, give yourself  20 points (for your outstanding attitude!).

Answer: Chicken of the Sea Chunck White Tuna in light water and a hard boiled egg on the side.

2) When is the last time you have eaten this tasty high protein snack?

a. Sometime in the past week, give yourself 10 points.

b. Sometime in the past 3 hours, give yourself 20 points!

c. I would never eat this smelly snack! (deduct 20 points + add 10 lbs)

– Not without mayo (add another 10 lbs)

– Not without bread (add another 10lbs)

– Not around other people because it stinks and will gross them out (add another 10lbs)

The photo is of my snack this afternoon, no big deal.  But my entire family happened to be in the car with me overreacting in a big way to the smell. Gross! Yucky! Do you have to eat that right now, right here? My favorite reaction from my 4year old daughter…ewww Yucky, can I have some?

Eating on a schedule isn’t always convenient, it isn’t always the perfect time or perfect place. (I had refrained from popping open the tuna while visiting my 92 year old grandmother minutes earlier.) But the reactions of my husband and kids were no match for my determination to put the festivities of the past few days behind me and get back to eating in the way that fuels my body and makes me lean and strong.

They love me anyway, even if we don’t go out for pizza anymore. So do what you have to do for YOU in 2012!!

Happy New Year!

Suzy
