Life is too short to wear flip flops!

by Suzy Oge on December 1, 2011

When I peeked out of the bedroom curtains this morning at our resort on Playa de Santiago de La Gomera just after sunrise, all seemed so quiet. I slipped on my workout clothes and headed out to do my dynamic warm up (JTLC to Lab Rats)  with a breath taking view of the coast. Once in position, I was surprised to look over my shoulder  and see all the people clad in their bath robes watching the sunrise and stunning views from lounge chairs on their balconies! Don’t just sit there….why not get out here and REALLY enjoy it?

I was equally surprised when I went for a dip in the salt water pool at sunset following a day of GI Jane hiking in “the jungle”.  I was the only one in the pool. Plenty of people were poised all around to SIT and watch the sunset, but why not get out here, DIVE IN and really enjoy it? Come on people, move your bodies!

Point is, dearest, it is ‘scary’ to see someone determined to live life to its fullest, and crab their own ‘carpe diem’ … have faith, we will catch up …in our own time, and have you to show us we can, and should! Having said that, my ‘carpe diem’ would have been lying in my robe appreciating the sunrise (or sunset) in silence! To each his, sorry her, own :)!

Thank you for elaborating on your in person comment of “you are scary” ! The opinions of Lounge Chair Loafers are always welcome on this site too 🙂 The JTLC dynamic warmup is also silent and relaxing..and puts you in motion to start your day feeling great! Next time we see each other be prepared to try it…no matter where or when….although tricky in a short skirt/dress;-)
